Adrienne works with individuals through personal movement lessons called The Anat Baniel Method of Functional Synthesis (FS).
My clients are always surprised to discover what the brain is doing behind the scenes of their own consciousness. It's wired to do what it's used to doing, in whatever way we've learned to use ourselves. We carry the marks of experience, stress, trauma, pain and injury that life brings each us in our own unique ways. While we do our best, is not always what best serves us. Over time, habituated movements that are inefficient, destructive or cause pain will limit our performance, and we think, " I'm getting old." What it really means is our habits are catching up with us. What if we could learn to do better? The good news we can, given the opportunity and new input. I see this happen in remarkable ways with even the most mature clients.
The intention with each lesson is to bring about changes in the brain in order to improve performance. When new neural connections are created and the brain learns to organize action with more intelligence, habituated chronic contractions disappear and movement becomes efficient, easier, more skillful, more powerful. This process not only upgrades action but upgrades the functioning of the brain itself, improving its speed, efficiency and ability to make connections.
This is powerful for anyone who wants to perform better in life, in any way and at any age- from a musician to a highly skilled athlete to someone with debilitating back pain. If you look at top performers - Olympic athletes, fine musicians, chess masters- they have mastered their minds to create high quality action. Each one of us of us can step into that same learning process from where we are and experience immediate and even life changing improvement.
The lessons at Neurophysica are created to meet the particular needs and skills of you, the student. Clients are called “students” because each lesson initiates changes through learning, apprenticed through experience. After a lesson there is usually a noticeable felt difference in some realm of oneself, including how one is moving, feeling, thinking. Every small upgrade in the brain's ability to differentiate has a positive effect on the dynamic organization of the entire system. As the brain works better, so does everything else.
We will create a schedule based on your needs and availability. Adult students show the most progress when they commit to a consistent schedule of lessons over time and when they do movement lessons at home between our sessions. Once improvement is made, many clients no longer need my services. Others continue with lessons to experience continued growth, to prevent decline, and just to feel good!
